A wheelchair can change the rhythm of everyday life. It can help someone move around the house, return to the community, and rely less on family members for basic mobility. For families caring for a loved one with limited movement, that difference is deeply felt.

Last August, the Rotary Club of Commonwealth brought its service beyond Quezon City through a wheelchair donation caravan in Tacloban City, Carigara, and Burauen, Leyte.

The project was built on a belief our club continues to carry; service reaches farther when we work with others. Together with the Rotary Club of San Juanico Tacloban, Inner Circle Club of the Philippines, and Mabuhay Shriners, wheelchairs were brought directly to individuals who needed them.

Each turnover had a story behind it: a person regaining some independence, a family relieved of the daily task of carrying a loved one, or someone simply given the chance to move more freely and with dignity. The wheelchairs were the visible part of the project. The partnership behind them made the wider reach possible.

For the Rotary Club of Commonwealth, collaboration is not only about accomplishing more. It is about connecting clubs, organizations, and communities around a shared purpose and taking service where it is needed.

The caravan ended in Leyte, but for every person now able to move with greater independence, the journey continues, and this creates lasting impact.
